Annuelle is wine from Other Half celebrating winemakers and regions we love. Our inaugural partner for this yearly series is Nathan Kendall. We have been working with Nathan for a few years incorporating his grapes skins, lees and must into our In Bloom series of beers.
His love of the Bloomfield terroir and community runs parallel with so many of the ideals that make up our love and commitment to the FLX area. His wines are made with minimal intervention and spontaneously fermented, allowing the flora of the Bloomfield to impart its unique characteristics on his creations. Because he loves wine even more than we do, we had to work with him to create wines that we can share with our community and highlight the accomplishments of such a talented winemaker and region. We are grateful for his patience and skill and hope you enjoy these wines as much as we do.
N. Kendall Wines was founded in 2011 by Bloomfield native Nathan Kendall. He is an internationally trained Winemaker who was featured in Wine Enthusiast’s 40 Under 40 Tastemakers in 2018. He has experience in Sonoma, Willamette Valley, Waipara (NZ), Adelaide Hills (AUS), and Mosel (GER), although the plan was always to return to the shores of Seneca Lake. His passion is to create wines in an old world style using quality grapes and minimal intervention.
Having traveled throughout the world focusing on cool climate regions and varietals, the Winemaker’s focus is on Riesling, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and sparkling wine. All lots are carefully sorted, and the pristine fruit then undergoes long spontaneous fermentations. Post fermentation, the wine ages for months on the gross lees to enhance the texture. Wines are then carefully racked, never fined, and gently filtered before bottling.
